It's that time of year again in Miami: the countdown to Art Basel Miami Beach / Design Miami. One of my FAVORITE events is the Locust Projects Smash & Grab Fundraiser, on Saturday, October 27th from 6:30PM - 9:30PM at Locust Projects in the Design District. It allows everyone an accessible way to own a great piece of art from local, national, and international artists. Basically you pay $450 (which admits 2) for each raffle ticket, to win a piece of art from over 100 artists, graciously donated by themselves or galleries. (This includes the promised to be super duper afterparty at South Street)
The greatest thing about the way they do this is that everyone who purchases a raffle ticket is GUARANTEED to walk away with a piece. Granted, the earlier your number is called, the better chance you have of winning the piece of your dreams, so here's to luck. The catalog is online here so you can see the works beforehand.
