The original "Art" Hotel on Miami Beach, the renowned Sagamore (1671 Collins Avenue), will be the site of an ARTIST TALK between Ebony G. Patterson & Peterson Kamwathi, hosted by the dynamic owner and collector, Cricket Taplin on Tuesday, June 4th at 6:30pm. Both are the featured artists in the exhibition Six Degrees of Separate Nations, opening on June 8th, 2013 at the Frost Museum.
According to curator Claire Breukel, "Six Degrees of Separate Nations aims to bring these two artists together to showcase not only their respective bodies of work that highlight the impact of colonization on their viewpoints, but also to work together to produce work on site that explores new dialogue pertinent to their individual experiences as a contemporary Kenyan and Jamaican, respectively. Through this collaborative process, and the work that results, Six Degrees of Separate Nations will highlight both the commonalities and the differences between these artists’ experiences, in order to come closer to understanding the complexity of contemporary identity"
